He is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and currently lives in New York City.

A seasoned investor, Joshua Pearl is the co-founder of Hickory Lane Capital Management LP. He specializes in long/short equity investments and special situations, and takes a fundamentals-based approach to investing. Before founding Hickory Lane, he served as Managing Director of Brahman Capital, a high yield investment firm. He previously worked at Moelis & Company and Deutsche Bank. He has a B.S. in Business from Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

Before founding Hickory Lane, Joshua Pearl held positions at a number of firms, including Deutsche Bank, UBS, and Moelis & Company. During his career, he also worked in the investment banking industry as a banker. His first two books, Investment Banking and LBOs, were written by fellow students of his Kelley School of Business. Then he co-authored The Little Book of Investing Like the Pros and The Little Book of Investing Like the Professionals, are highly recommended.

Currently, Pearl is the founder of Hickory Lane Capital Management, an equity hedge fund. His firm focuses on equity investments, especially special situations, and leveraged and short-short strategies. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Brahman Capital, an equity long/short hedge fund. After working at Brahman, he worked at the Deutsche Bank and UBS Investment Bank. He is the co-author of two books on the subject, including The Little Book of Investing Like the Pros
